自己の感情の認知や表出が困難である為、身体化にそのはけ口を求める心理的特徴を持つ人達(心身症 psychomatic disease)

定義に関しては、ここが参考になる。Campbellが自我を防御するためという説明をしているが、それは少数派であるという指摘、ignoreではなくneglectという表現がよいという指摘、individuals suffering from alexithymiaという表現はsuffer fromで表現するような病気ではなく人格特性を示すタームであることから不適切であるなどなど。


For the record, Sifneos described the clinical features in 1967, and theorized about the etiology with Nemiah in 1970, but he first used the term in 1972. So although the syndrome was conceived in the 1960s, it wasn't officially named until much later.

こうしたアレキシサイミア傾向を評価する自己記入式質問紙として,Taylorらによって開発されたToronto Alexithymia Scale(TAS)がある.現在用いられている20項目からなるTAS-2の改訂版であり,因子分析によって,Factor1「感情の同定」,Factor2「感情の表出困難」,Factor3「外的思考」の3つの主要な因子に分けられ,アレキシサイミア傾向を知る有効な自己記入式質問紙の1つである。
