Strain Theory as "from macro to micro"

Social Deviance: Readings in Theory and Research (5th Edition)からRobert AgnewのStrain Theory冒頭部分。

these theories essentially describe how communitylevel variables affect individual criminal behav-
ior. In the words of Coleman (1990), the focus is on the "movement from macro to micro." It is no
surprise, then, that these theories explicitly or implicitly draw on microtheories when they explain how community-level variables lead individuals to engage in crime.(49page)

Robert Agnew, A General Strain Theory of Community Differences in Crime Rates, Journal of Research in Crime and Delinquency 36:2 (May 1999), pp. 123-155.

Robert Agnew, Building on the Foundation of General Strain Theory: Specifying the Types of Strain Most Likely to Lead to Crime and Delinquency, Journal of Research in Crime and Delinquency, Vol. 38, No. 4, 319-361 (2001).

Robert Agnew, FOUNDATION FOR A GENERAL STRAIN THEORY OF CRIME AND DELINQUENCY. Criminology, Feb1992, Vol. 30 Issue 1, p47-87, 41p.

Google Scholar
