今日は研究会。
この論文の問題意識は従来のStrain Theoryが扱ってこなかった緊張関係を総合的に扱いGenralなStrain Theoryを構築するということにある。

Three types of strain in this category have been listed: strain as the disjunction between (1) aspirations and expectations/actual achievements, (2) expectations and actual achievements, and (3) just/fair outcomes and actual outcomes. Strain theory in criminology has focused on the first type of strain, arguing that it is most responsible for the delinquency in our society.

心理学の文献が多々引用されていたが、ストレスや人にインパクトを与えるライフイベントなども考慮しようという考えらしい。モデルが複雑になり理論の切れ味が悪くなる。ただ、計量をするには色々な指標があった方がやりやすいという指摘も読書会中にあった。
